Food: Salmon + Karaage Bento

Desciption:
Hello everyone, this is my fourth post on Japanese Cuisine, this time I will be inroducing you all a bento set, the Salmon + Karaage Bento from the Japanese Cuisine stall in Foodfare, Clementi Mall.
The Salmon + Karaage Bento comes with a set containing Salmon, Chicken Karaage, Salad, Rice, and some Mayonaise sauce, plus a bowl of Miso soup. This whole bento set cost only $5.90. The Chicken Karaage is just the same as the Chicken Karaage of the Karaage Ramen I introduced last time, the salmon is very delicious when eat with the sauce on top of it, the Chicken Karaage and the Salmon fish is best served when eat together with the rice. The salad will taste fine if it is mixed with the mayonaise sauce. And don't forget, the bowl of Miso soup, it taste very plain.
Overall, this is a very good combination of bento set as it combines 4 kinds of different food plus a bowl of soup, so $5.90 for this set of bento, I say it is worth the price.

Beer Batter Style Fish

Western Food!

Hello everybody (:
Today I will be sharing with you all about western food.
Name of the dish: B.B.F.
Cost of the dish: $4.80
Place of the location: Chippy C @ Tampines one
Rating:9.5/10

B.B.F. is Beer Batter Style Fish along with fries and a dip of your choice. In Chippy C, there are a total of 5 different dips, which consists of the usual chili and ketchup, additional with traditional mayo sauce, creamy cheese sauce and malt vinegar.  Traditional mayo sauce cost $0.80, however when you order any set, it comes with a dip, so you can just exchange it for $0.30. Creamy cheese sauce cost $1, however when you order any set, it comes with a dip, so you can just exchange it for $0.60. Malt vinegar cost $0.70.
For the fish, there are 10pieces, its looks are mouth-watering and its taste are delicious as it is well-seasoned, I love the seasoning a lot as it is not too salty or spicy, the seasoning contains salt, pepper and etc. The batter for the fish, is not thick like others shop, so with one bite, you are able to taste the fish.
For the fries, it is the soft type fries, so for those who prefer crispy fries, may not like this, its seasoning is similar to the fish as the cook will season it again after both the fish and the fries were fried.
Overall, both the fish and the fries taste great with the dips given.
That’s all for western food, stay tuned for more!

Carrot cake

Hello!
I've been trying to find good food to recommend, however, most of them were average.
But on one of the days, I was short of money ($5), so I had to settle for a carrot cake from Seng Kee Carrot Cake stall.
It tasted good and was worth it so you should give it a try! There are 3 sizes: small, medium, and large.

Guess how much this is!
It's only $2! What a huge serving! This is the small plate and they gave me 4 big pieces of carrot cakes.
It was freshly cooked and the carrot cake was crispy on the outside but soft in the inside.

Overall it tasted good and was able to fill my tummy up! The stall owner is also kind enough to serve it to us while I sat at my table.

8.5/10
Piece of advice - Unless you're a big eater with a strong appetitie, the $2 carrot cake is sastifying.

Rating:8.5/10
Fish and chips consist of battered fish which is deep-fried, along with some fries (chips), and in canteen 3 it comes with salad and red bean. Sauce like mayonnaise, chili and ketchup are provided.
The customer service is 9.5/10. The stall owner is very kind. She treated my classmate free French fries (:
For the fish, there is 1 huge piece, normally they come in 2 small pieces. It is crispy and the batter is just nice you can taste the fish in just one bite, however the fish cooked too long, but it still taste alright. Overall the fish taste great together with the mayonnaise sauce.
For the fries, it is the crispy type and the serving is less, however he stall owner gave one plate of fries free. Furthermore it comes with salad which is healthy as salads are made up of vegetables that are cool and crunchy. To add on red beans are provided too. Overall even though fish @ chips are fried food, however it comes along with salad and red beans to make it healthier choice for us.

Rating:9.0/10

Fish and chips consist of battered fish which is deep-fried, along with some fries (chips), and in makan place it comes with salad and comes with mayonnaise sauce, extra mayonnaise sauce will be charge $0.30 more. But 1 cup of mayonnaise is enough for me, as other sauce like chili and ketchup are provided.
For the fish, there is 1 huge piece, normally they come in 2 small pieces. It is crispy and the batter is just nice you can taste the fish in just one bite unlike others you taste the batter more than the fish, you can squeeze the lemon for better taste. Overall the fish taste great together with the mayonnaise sauce.
For the fries, it is the crispy type, it is not salty which is much more a healthy choice. Furthermore it comes with salad which is healthy as salads are made up of vegetables that are cool and crunchy. Baked rice sausage mushroom

Western Food!

Hello everybody (:
Today I will be sharing with you all about western food.
Name of the dish: Baked rice sausage mushroom
Cost of the dish: $3.80
Place of the location: Canteen 3 @ NP

This baked rice is made up with the combination of cheese, rice, sausage and mushroom.
The waiting time for baked rice is much longer than the others. The waiting time is around 10 to 15minutes. The rice is quite dry, however together with the melted cheese given, the rice would taste better. The stall owner would allow us to add on the cheddar cheese. The sausage and mushroom was well-cooked and it go along well with the baked rice.
Overall the combination is fine, and if the rice is not that dry it will taste even better. That’s all for western food, stay tuned for more!

Grilled chicken and sotong set

Hello! I have eaten another meal with a huge chicken serving!
I went to Jurong point at Boon Lay and I ate at Kopitiam's Indonesian panggang.
I bought the Grilled chicken and sotong set for 5.80.

Isn't the chicken huge?

The price of this set meal is $5.80.However for that cost, you get to eat freshly grilled chicken and sotong, and the person cooks right in front of you! Imagine having barbeque food in an air conditioned place! After cooking, they would dip the chicken and sotong into sweet black sauce and your rice will be splashed with vegetable curry. The chicken was tender and the sotong was chewy. You can actually choose the type of meat you want. You can get either the chicken with fish or fish with sotong set too!

8/10
Piece of advice - Be prepared to wait for around 5 minutes to have your food cooked perfectly!

What's up guys! How're doing? Running out of things to eat recently? Fret not, cause I'm here to introduce you to yet another Korean food!

Cuisine Type: Korean
Location: Bukit Panjang Plaza, Kopitiam

Image of map from maps.google.com.sg

Food: Kimchi Ramen (Chicken)
Noodles noodles!
Price: $5.50

Description: Dining in Bukit Panjang Plaza on Monday, I decided to try out yet another Korean stall's food. This time round, I chose its famous Kimchi Ramen(noodles). It has a reasonable amount of noodles and come with vegetables, chicken meat and an egg. Furthermore, there is more than enough soup to eat with. Even though the noodles were a bit hard, I feel that it is a reasonable meal, having so much ingredients and cost only $5.50. Be warned though, as it is actually spicier than it looks.

P.S. You can choose between Chicken or Beef Kimchi Ramen, with beef priced at 20 cents more.

Thumbs up:
  • Tasty
  • Plenty of soup
  • Veggies

Thumbs down:
  • Noodles are a little hard(uncooked?)

Baked Fish Rice

Western Food!

Hello everybody (:
Today I will be sharing with you all about western food.
Name of the dish: Baked Fish Rice
Cost of the dish: $7.90
Place of the location: C.Nai HongKong Cafe @ Fareast Plaza

This baked rice is made up with the combination of cheese, fish, rice and corn.

The rice around the side of the bowl is a little too dry and a little hard perhaps they cook it for too long.
The cheese is sufficient enough for the whole bowl and it taste great.
The corn make the whole dish turns out sweet, which gave it a unique taste.
The fish, they gave too much, which make it very filling.
Overall the combination is fine, and it taste a little different from the stores outside. It is because this baked rice is from a hong kong café that’s why it taste differently. That’s all for western food, stay tuned for more!

Japanese Cuisine: Kaki Fuyong @ Makan Place, Ngee Ann Polytechnic

Type: Japanese Cuisine
Stall name: Japanese Cuisine
Location: Makan Place at Ngee Ann Polytechnic

Food: Kaki Fuyong with Chicken

Description:
Hello everyone, so this is the second post to introduce you all the second Japanese Cuisine that I have tasted today. The Kaki Fuyong with Chicken from the Japanese Cuisine stall in Makan Place, Ngee Ann  Polytechnic. Although the name doesn't sound like a Japanese dish, but it IS a genuine Japanese dish.
The Kaki Fuyong with Chicken, which cost only $3.00, is a dish that comes with a bowl of rice and a hot plate of Chicken placed on top of the sizzling Fuyong Egg with their homemade sauce. This dish is the most popular dish among the students in Ngee Ann Polytechnic as it is very delicious, the Chicken is very crispy and the egg taste good together with the rice and the Chicken. But be warned though, it is very hot so it needs to cool down for a while before it is being served. The only bad thing about this dish is that it is so popular that you will need to queue for a very long time during peak hours, such as lunch time.(Trust me, I experienced it myself today.)
Overall, this Japanese dish doesn't look like it, but it is quite a big serving. You won't say you are hungry after eating this Japanese dish, plus it is very delicious, Oishii!

Time for another Chinese Cuisine!

Hi guys! It's JianSen here again. Gonna introduce another Chinese cuisine today.
Ate this skewer mincemeat dry instant noodle today. Not too bad, I really like their skewer! ;D

Took some picture of it!

Full picture of the noodle.

Instant noodle with mincemeat!

And lastly! The...... SKEWERS! ;D

Located in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Munch. Here's the map!

I think that the noodle is okay. Not too bad! Just like any other noodle. However, I really like their skewers! Freshly fried! So CRISPY! It's just taste so nice when they put the BBQ sauce on it! Overview of the food, I think that it's quite nice, a bit of mixture of Chinese and Western cuisine.

Well, personally I think that the price is quite expensive, $3.20 for just two skewer and a blow of instant noodle with mincemeat on it. But I think it's worth it, fair enough to give a try for their skewer! Extra skewer will be charge at $1.00 to $1.20, depends on which stick you choose. Overall I'll give it a rating of 7/10. ;D

That's all for today Chinese cuisine. Stay tuned for more food. ;D

Fish and chips

Western Food!

Hello everybody (:
Today I will be sharing with you all about western food.
Name of the dish: fish and chips
Place of the location: Munch @ NP
Fish and chips consists of battered fish which is deep-fried, along with some fries (chips), and in munch it come with an extra bun. Oh and it comes with mayonnaise sauce (My favorite).
For the fish, there are 3 pieces, normally they come in 2 pieces, but I must say it is quite a small piece as compared to other places, that’s why there 3 pieces. A little too much of battered, but indeed it is crispy. Overall the fish taste great together with the mayonnaise sauce.
For the fries, it type is similar to Macdonald's, however I still prefer Macdonald's. As the fries are a little too salty, however it still taste good with the sauces they provided (e.g. chili and Ketchup).
For the bun, it is nicely fried; with one bite you can taste the crispiness.
That’s all for today, stay tuned for more!

Curry chicken!

Can't take spicy food, but wish to spice up your life?
Try the Curry Ayam Briyani set meal at Yewtee's Kopitiam!

Cuisine : Malay

Doesn't it look spicy?

Do not worry! It's less spicier than a double McSpicy from McDonalds!

The price for this packet of meal is only $4.00. But what's good about it? You get lots and lots of tasty briyani rice and a one big piece of chicken! You can choose to have the curry or the fried chicken too! Also, you get to have a choice of a vegetable to go along! However in this picture I have 2 vegetables and it costed me 50c more, which is quite reasonable for the huge servings!

Overall, the rice was cooked nicely and the vegetables were a bit soggy but tasty. The chicken is neither overcooked nor undercooked.
7.5/10
Piece of advice - Be prepared to eat the chicken with your bare hands :D

Japanese Cuisine: Tempura Udon and Chawanmushi @ Sakae Sushi, Northpoint Mall

Type: Japanese Cuisine
Restaurant name: Sakae Sushi
Location: Yishun Northpoint Mall

Food: Tempura Udon and Chawanmushi

Description:
Visiting Sakae sushi at Yishun Northpoint Mall at 21st of july, I decided to test the food in the restaurant. I had Tempura Udon, which is a type of thick wheat-flour noodle that is very popular in Japanese cuisine and it comes with fried breaded prawns(Tempura), and Chawanmushi, which is steamed egg custard that mix with slices of crab stick. The price of the Tempura Udon is $10.99 and the price of the Chawanmushi is $1.99, which sums up a total of $11.99.

For the Tempura Udon, although the bowl of Udon looks very small in the picture, it is actually quite a big bowl and with the tempura, it can make you very full. Both the Tempura Udon and the Chawanmushi have a good appearance, especially the Tempura Udon. The soup of the Udon taste is plain but it is still delicious, for people who like plain and healthy food, you will like the Udon. The tempura is very nice, it is not very deeply fried so it is not very oily, so it is a very good combination for the Udon and the Tempura. As for the Chawanmushi, the Crab Sticks on top of it is not very hot despite it is on top of the Chawanmushi which is very hot, the taste of the Crab Sticks mixed well with the Chawanmushi and it is best to eat them together
in one bite. In conclusion, these two dishes are delicious overall, as the Japanese will say, Oishii!

For those who like Japanese Cuisine, I think that you all will like the Tempura Udon and Chawanmushi served by Sakae Sushi. It is located in Yishun Northpoint Mall and it has branches located all over Singapore.

Anyway, I gonna introduce this Char Siew Wonton Kuey teow. It's tasty. Normally Wonton Noodle is dry and their soup is given separately. But this is with the soup together. Hmm, I guess it's quite unique. Furthermore, the Char Siew, Wonton and soup(Though I hate drinking soup) is really nice. I heard my dad said that they make the Char Siew and Wonton themself.

The price is quite fair, $3.00 for ;per bowl. It guess it's quite cheap? You get to eat a handmade Char Siew and Wonton. And the serving it's big enough to fill me up. I'll give it a rating of 8/10. ;D

Cheesecups

Desserts!

Hello everybody (:
Today I will be sharing with you all about desserts.
Name of the dish: "Strawberry Love" – Strawberry, "Mr King" – Durian, "Berry Merry" – Blueberry, "Black or White" – Oreo and"Squish" – Lemon
Cost of each cheesecups: $2.20
Place of the location: Jara Petit

I order 5 different flavours of cheese cupcakes from Jara Petit, a blog shop. It came nicely packed.

For the strawberry and blueberry flavour it taste sweet, as they does not put the whole fruit on the cheesecake.
For the Durian flavour it has the taste of durian and the cream are very fresh.
For the oreo flavour it taste the best among the 5 flavours as it is different from the other 4 flavors cause of the crumbs below the cupcakes are made from oreo while the rest are made from digestive biscuit, however the oreo biscuit on top become soft, if it maintains it will taste nicer.
For the lemon flavour it does not taste that sour, but there is still the lemon taste in it.
Overall, the cheesecups are lovely to look at as it is simple looking. Each of it has unique taste and it is very satisfying.
To know more about Jara Petit Mini Cheesecups, you can check out in this link http://www.jara-petit.com/ . That’s all for desserts, stay tuned for more! (:
